about

Mother of Thousand

The title Mother of Thousand is derived from a plant called Mother of Thousands, a succulent plant that grows little plantlets on its adult leaf margins. At a certain moment the plantlets are dropped on the ground, where they grow roots of their own and develop into adult plants. This album came about in a similar way. The compositions were not written at our individual drawing boards, but constructed together in our newly built studio. This process resulted in new forms, sounds, and often softer textures. The title track showcases all of this. The opening tenor solo is played by Mete Erker
